Until now, there are about 2,000 handicraft villages nationwide which trade in lacquer, pottery, embroidered with laces, sedge, weaved products, paintings, wood products… stretching from North to South. Traditional villages are creating jobs for about 11 million people, including permanent to non-permanent labour.
Products of traditional villages are in good quality and consumed in domestic and foreign market. However, under the impact of economic recession, it’s difficult for traditional products to be sold. Because of the decrease of orders, many labours are made redundant. In domestic market, traditional products are displayed in small, unconcentrated places. Therefore, it takes customers much time to go to different villages for different products.
